Listening, not fixing

HELP FOR MEN

By listening to men we understand why they are skeptical of therapy. Many men understandably feel that when they seek help they'll be met with an agenda. This resource is not about telling men what their problems are. It’s about listening to them to understand their challenges with empathy and without judgement. It's about listening to understand their problems, not telling them what their problems should be.

'His therapist' leaves all agendas aside and focuses on one thing: what can be of use to men in therapy. It aims to help men improve their relationship with themselves, their partners, and their children.

This resource is about what men choose to bring to therapy, not what others believe they should be bringing to therapy. This is simply a resource focused on supporting men and which specializes in this modality.

Agendas distract from what's important: YOUR thoughts, feelings, needs and perspectives.

Typically, therapy is more effective when personal issues are worked on. It can lose focus when it veers into the broader social or cultural sphere. However, if and when that happens should be decided by the client, not the therapist. The therapist should seek only to understand the client, not to impose their own perspective.

This resource brings no agenda. It's not even necessarily intellectual. It's deeply personal and individualized. Above all, it's practical and outcome oriented. It seeks to help men and, as a byproduct, the ones they love.

The SELF Pill

What some people have referred to as the 'White Pill' could also be referred to as the 'Self Pill'. Taking it does not mean denying the challenges you're facing. Nor does it involve simplistic 'positive thinking'.

The Self Pill is about self-empowerment. It's about learning how your mind operates, finding purpose, and living authentically on your terms.

It's about unplugging from all the noise and focusing on yourself. It's about setting yourself as the priority.

'His Therapist' focuses on what men really care about:

  • Finding a sense of purpose and meaning

  • Overcoming procrastination, doubt, stress, anxiety and indecision

  • Understanding their own needs in relationships

  • Securing financial stability and independence

  • Overcoming shame, insecurity, and social isolation

  • How to deal with stress and the high expectations of providing for others

1-2-1 individual support

While supports for men are still relatively lacking, recent years have seen some real progress. More and more, men are talking about what they care about and how they are really doing.

More than ever, men are getting the help they deserve. This is not before time and reason to be thankful.

This resource is an addition to the burgeoning support being offered to men.

'His Therapist' focuses on providing 1-2-1 support for men seeking to enact positive change and self-empowerment. It offers men support in doing inner work and developing self-awareness.
